I spoke to Dr Abeydeera and Dr
Priyatharsan. I was told that they have completed surgeries to nearly
90 patients today (less than planned due to complications with the
remainder). They said the camp went very well. I was also told that
there were nearly 10 patients who had cataract in both eyes and almost
blind in both eyes. I am expecting photos from Sri and Dr Abeydeera. I
will email as soon as I get them.
They are arranging another one for 1st/2nd week of
Nov in Mannar again because there are more patients waiting and some of
them have cataract in both eyes. I will confirm soon.
Only problem they have is the lack of surgeons volunteering to do these
camps. It was Dr Dias again who conducted today's surgeries. I will
write an email to Dr Dias thanking him for his services.
Finally, I would like thank GOCF Australia for their continued support and funds to cataract surgeries in Mannar.
Kind regards,
