Does India Posses a Soul

Does India Posses a Soul
Visvanathan

Does India Posses a Soul“The assassination of Rajiv Gandhi was an attack on the soul of India,” Dr. Singh said in the statement issued soon after the government moved a review petition in the Supreme Court on the “fundamental issues of law”. In a statement in New Delhi, he said that no government or party should be soft in the fight against terrorism. Besides Santhan, Murugan and Perarivalan, who earned a major reprieve on February 18, 2014 from the apex court which spared them from gallows, Nalini, Robert Payas, Jayakumar and Ravichandran are the other four convicts whose release was decided by the Tamil Nadu government.  All of them were undergoing sentences for their role in the assassination of Gandhi on May 21, 1991 in Sriperumbudur.

“The release of the killers of a former Prime Minister of India and our great leader, as well as several other innocent Indians, would be contrary to all principles of justice,” the Prime Minister asserted. He said the Centre has “informed the Tamil Nadu government that their proposed course of action to release the killers of Rajiv Gandhi is not legally tenable and should not be proceeded with.”

No one disputes that any killer of any prime minister of a country for whatever reason or crime he may have committed, should not be spared; he should face the full force of the law. However, in this case it is a heavily flawed judgement where the investigators went about their job with ulterior motives. They were keen to convict as many people as possible; so much so they managed to sentence 26 people to death. Sonia Gandhi's first reaction on this judgement was sentencing these 26 people was fine, but what about those behind the killing. Subsequent appeal on this case, retained the death sentence on four persons and three others received life imprisonment; the rest were freed. As soon as Sonia entered politics, she forgot about those 'behind the killing' of Rajiv Gandhi, thoroughly satisfied with the judgement.
The problem is many individuals and organisations were involved in the murder and they had to protect themselves during the investigation. As a result Truth became a casualty. The time has come to order a fresh investigation into the assassination of Rajiv Gandhi at Sriperumbudur in Tamil Nadu. The Special Investigation Team (SIT) appointed by the government of India was headed by D.R.Karthikeyan, who managed to round up 26 people, some not even remotely connected with the crime, got them all convicted and sentenced to death by the trial court under the notorious Terrorists and Disruptive Activities (Prevention) Act, though none was charged for any terrorist offence.
They were convicted under Section 302 IPC. The Supreme Court confirmed the death sentence of only four, Nalini, Murugan, Santhan and Perarivalan. The only charge against Perarivalan, who was in his teens at the time of the crime, was that he purchased two nine-volt battery cells which, according to the SIT charge-sheet, were the ones used to trigger the human bomb that blew up Rajiv Gandhi.
Santhan's misfortune was such, he arrived near the scene when the explosion took place. A report was received that a person by the name of Santhan was one of the murderers, but they did not know who he was. In one of the round ups they managed to get this Santhan and sentenced him to death.
Perarivalan admitted to his interrogators that he did buy two Golden Power battery cells but had no idea the purpose for which it was procured. V.Thiagarajan, the CBI SP who recorded Perarivalan’s statement, altered it by giving a spin that the battery cells were for making of the bomb. Having retired from service, Thiagarajan now says, “The burden on my conscience was growing and forced me to break the silence and disclose the truth in the fervent hope of preventing miscarriage of justice.”
Nalini’s death sentence was later converted to life imprisonment at the request of Sonia Gandhi. The reason given by her was that Nalini's daughter should not lose her mother as much as she lost her husband. The other three have been in death row awaiting the noose since 1999. On account of the investigators, these young men lost their youth in jail.
Of the 26 sentenced to death, the statements of 17, including Perarivalan’s, were recorded by Thiagarajan. Miscarriage of justice had already taken place and the seven had been in jail for the last 22 years. Asked why he did not come out with the truth earlier, "professional compulsions did not permit him", said Thiagarajan. He is no longer a caged parrot. Even the Supreme Court Judge KT Thomas, now retired, who presided over the Bench which confirmed the four death sentences, admits there was miscarriage of justice and does not want them hanged. Today, in spite Manmohan Singh's comments, it will be "legally wrong to execute the three." (See the public clamouring against the death sentence in the picture above)

Immediately after the assassination of Rajiv Gandhi, the Chandrasekhar government appointed the Justice JS Verma Commission of Inquiry. Its report submitted to the Union home ministry in June 1992 came out with some shocking revelations. Equally shocking was the revelation that the complete records pertaining to the Verma Commission could not be found. Skeletons were tumbling one after another in the manner in which the Rajiv assassination case was investigated and disposed of.

The entire visit of Rajiv Gandhi to Sriperumbudur was video-taped by the Intelligence Bureau (IB) and handed over to MK Narayanan, then its chief. (In May 2009 he was supporting the Genocide in Mullivaaikkal.) On 22 May, 1991, Narayanan wrote a letter to Chandrasekhar stating the video of the meeting was being scanned to try and identify the lady (the assassin). The SIT was given an edited, doctored copy with interpolations. When it sought a copy of the original, Narayanan refused.

On the advice of then Prime Minister PV Narasimha Rao, the CBI filed a case against Narayanan for suppressing crucial evidence in the sensitive assassination case. Nothing came of it. Before the killing of Rajiv, the hit squad’s wireless communications with its handlers in Jaffna were intercepted by Army intelligence and passed on to Narayanan. He failed to take any preventive step. A hidden hand was protecting him all along. (Either a hidden hand or the wireless communication produced did not implicate Prabhakaran.)

In the tube below Teruchi Velusamy gives a full account of the duplicity of the investigators in Tamil. The investigators are the ones who are supposed to feed the judiciary with the correct account of their investigations. If the investigation is flawed, the whole trial becomes a miscarriage of justice. That is exactly what some of the investigators are feeling today. M.K.Narayanan never felt the crisis of conscience; that was why he was able to assist the Sinhalese in the Genocide. Of course, he carried out the orders of the superiors, for which he was awarded the governorship of Bengal. For the benefit of those who can’t understand Tamil. I will give a summary of what Velusamy said

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T_9EniwFBSU (Preview)

Velusamy said that international law demands that a criminal can escape justice for lack of evidence, but no innocent person should be hanged on account of miscarriage of justice. For that reason the three innocent youths, Murugan, Santhan and Perarivalan, who had been jailed for 22 years, should be released

In their place three others should be hanged, two of whom had been involved in the miscarriage of justice. They are DR Karthikeyan and M.K.Narayanan. who had been involved in the cover up of the investigation. The third is Subramaniam Swamy, who as a Law Minister did nothing to protect him. Another person, P.Chidamparam, was appointed by Prime Minister Narasimha Rao to supervise the investigation, but he too provided the cover up of their operations. In the name of investigation all these people carried out miscarriage of justice. Even the Jain and Varma Commissioners complained they were not produced all the documents for a proper investigation. Supreme Court Judge KT Thomas admitted there was miscarriage of justice.

There are many unsolved mysteries in this case. the most important is the loss of files and reports. Originally the investigators implicated CIA and the Israeli intelligence Mozart. Within a few days  after the murder, the file was either destroyed of lost and they opened up a new file. The Department of Special Investigation Officer Rakottaman had also expressed that he would be glad if those accused in the murder of Rajiv were released. Karthikeyan , Head of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) has expressed that punishment should not be fulfilled for the accused in the murder. This not out of sympathy, but out of self guilt.
The tube also mentioned that Subramaniam Swamy had also indicated that Sonia Gandhi, her mother, another lady Margaret Alva could also be the other murderers for wealth. Velusamy and Subramaniam Swamy had made public the documented accusations against the investigators and Sonia Gandhi; yet no one had taken legal action against these people. On the other hand Margaret Alva and M.K Narayanan had been made governors of states.

When the investigators are now changing their minds on their investigations, the Indian government officials not involved with the investigation are raging hot to fulfil the judgement on the three innocent people, creating further suspicion on their motives. Subramaniam Swamy, one of those suspected of involvement, wants to see them hanged without further delay.

Another unsolved matter in this case was the way Rajiv came into the
Sriperumbudur. These are only some of them. On 21 -May-1991 Rajiv Gandhi started from Delhi for election campaign and reached Chennai after campaigning through Orissa and Andhra Pradesh. His acceptance of a midnight meeting at Sriperambuthur, which was not on the agenda of TamilNadu Congress committee, is a mystery by itself.

During this time the two Bulgerian journalists took the security official Sagar along in their car and arrived at airport late when Rajiv left Andhra Pradesh. So the security official could not go along with Rajiv Gandhi. The security official  of Rajiv at Chennai, P.C.Gupta was waiting at Chennai airport for Rajiv. as he was supposed to get the gun from Sagar, who was expected to follow Rajiv. As a result, Gupta had to follow Rajiv without a gun.

When Rajiv left Meenambakkam, two ladies claiming to be journalists, got inside his car at Ramavaram. Nobody verified their identity, nor did they know where the two ladies or the Bulgarians went after the murder The Special Investigation Branch (SIB) didn't inquire into who they were or their whereabouts.

In July 1991 the Central Home Minister S.P.Chawan made a statement, that apart from LTTE, there were other international organizations and powerful external forces involved in the background of Rajiv’s murder. The SIB didn't pursue this lead.

Palestinian National Authority President, Mr. Yasser Arafat informed the Indian Prime Minister during the time Mr .Chandrasekar that ‘Rajiv Gandhi’s life is under threat’. From where did Arafat get that information from, and who was threatening Rajiv? He could have got it from Europe or the Middle Eastern countries. He would have definitely not got the information from the LTTE or the Tamils. When CIA and Mozart were suspected of organizing the murder, it would have been common sense to get Arafat’s assistance to follow up the lead. There is no evidence of this done.

There were several Congressmen suspected of having advance information that a murder was about to take place in Sriperumbudur. No effort was made to prevent it. For example, Rajiv got down at the main road in Sriperumbudur and walked towards his mother, Indira Gandhi’s statue, on the right hand side of the road and garlanded it. Then he moved 50 yards along the road and turned left towards the stage. He moved another 50 yards forward, before he was blown off by a suicide bomber. Vazhapaadi Ramamurthy, the Tamil Nadu Congress leader who was with him earlier, was standing very far away from him at the time of the explosion, thus saving his life.

Thirty innocent members of the public and security personal died along with Rajiv Gandhi, but nothing happened to any of the Congress party members, who were supposed to be there with him, not even minor injuries. Is it possible a person of Rajiv’s stature, arriving from Delhi to deliver a speech at an election rally, is not followed by any of the politicians, who were there to receive him. On arrival at the site, he walked almost 100 meters before he met his death, but not a single politician was killed or injured. That speaks volumes for itself.

Another glaring lead that should have been investigated was the Saudi Arabian arms leader, Adnan Khashoggi, who was trying to sell arms to India. He is rumoured to have funded an Indian holy man, Chandraswamy, who is reported to be the Indian Prime Minister, Narasimha Rao’s guru, to organise the murder of Rajiv. It is amazing he was not seriously investigated.

The original suspects for the murder of Rajiv were CIA and Mozart; both these organizations were not happy with the Nehru family, leaning towards Soviet Union. All attempts to win over India to the West failed. There is every possibility of those organisations bumping off the Rajiv lineage in the ruling party

Velusamy accused Subramaniam Swamy, that as a Law Minister, he failed to take precautionary measures to protect Rajiv Gandhi. He was the first to announce the death of Rajiv as soon as it occurred. There is a structural failure by everyone of the Congressmen on the security of their leader

There is no dispute that Prabhakaran had every reason to dislike Rajiv. Rajiv deceitfully sent in the Indian troops into the Tamil Homeland to disarm all the militants, including the LTTE. Moreover, Rajiv ordered IPKF Commander in Chief to shoot and kill Prabhakaran when he came for the next meeting in 1987. The raping of Tamil women and the killing of Tamil civilians and cadres did not amuse Prabhakaran, but are all these sufficient reasons to kill Rajiv and that too in Tamil Nadu.

Prabhakaran was intelligent enough to know that Tamil Nadu is the source of his support and sympathy. Why should he lose this base by killing Rajiv there? If there was a compelling reason to finish off Rajiv he had the know how and financial capacity to kill him near Punjab or Kashmir by non-Tamils. Of all places why should he choose Tamil Nadu, where he would become an easy suspect.

India’s main problem with Prabhakaran was that he was unyielding on his policy to curve out a separate state of Eelam out of Sri Lanka. The Indian Intelligence wing, called RAW, had been telling Rajiv that the creation of Eelam is detrimental to India, as Tamil Nadu may break off from India to create a greater Tamil nation. As much as Prabhakaran was determined to create Eelam, the Indian leadership was hell bent in preventing the creation of Eelam. That is the gist of the problem between the LTTE and India.

After the 9/11 twin tower attack, US declared the ‘War on Terror’ against Al-Qaeda. Western powers were alarmed by the innovative methods, used by the Tigers. One of them was the use of suicide bombers. They did not want the LTTE technology to be transferred to the terrorist. That was why they banned the LTTE to cut off their source of finance.
This whole matter of killing Rajiv in Tamil Nadu may have been schemed and put into effect by the Western powers, not only to kill Rajiv, but also to implicate the LTTE, destroy its support base in Tamil Nadu to destroy it. Prabhakaran killing Rajiv in TN seems very remote,
The people who did the killing was definitely Tamil militants, but they may not be from the LTTE. If at all they were, they must have been drop outs from the LTTE. who were out to make some quick money. So only a re-investigation can bring out the Truth.
Now let us look at the other side of the coin. The Tamils had suffered under Sinhalese rule since the date of independence in February 1948. Having failed in the deployment of all peaceful means, the youth took up arms not only to defend themselves but also to liberate the Tamil Homeland. They received all their military training from the Middle East and with whatever arms they could procure they conducted a guerilla warfare, which the ill-trained Sinhalese army could not contain.
At that time the Prime Minister of India, Indira Gandhi, had problem with Sri Lanka, which was about to negotiate a deal with a Singapore foreign firm to lease the Trincomalle harbour to that company. Indian Intelligence got wind of it and investigated it, She soon discovered the Singapore company was created by US to take over Trincomalle. To bring Sri Lanka to its heels she trained the Tamil militants in India. She also had a genuine interest in the problems the Tamils endured in Sri Lanka. She advised the Tamils to be united, but the Indian Intelligence, RAW, kept them divided to have easy control over them.
With the Indian aid the militant attacks on Sri Lankan armed forces intensified. M.G Ramachandran heavily financed the Tamil Tigers and the LTTE soon became the dominant force. On July 23 President Jayawadene orchestrated a viscous attack on the Tamils in Colombo, killing more than 3,000 Tamils and destroying vast amount of their properties. The Tamils refer to this as Black July. This forced many Tamils to join the militants. During this period the LTTE grew into a formidable force.
In 1984 Sikh body guards killed Indira Gandhi and this was a great blow to the Tamils, especially the LTTE. When Rajiv took over the prime minister's post the Tamils were happy that he would continue his mother's policies. Advised by J.N Dixit, the Indian High Commissioner in Colombo and RAW, the Indian foreign policy took an about turn and tilted towards Sri Lanka. In July 1987 the Indian Prime Minister, Rajiv Gandhi and President Jayawardene of Sri Lanka signed an Indo-Sri Lankan Accord, which was secretly negotiated by the Indian High Commissioner in Colombo, J.N Dixit and Jayawardene without consulting any Tamil, civil political leaders or militants. According to this accord the 13th Amendment was to be in-cooperated into the Sri Lankan constitution and powers are to be devolved to the provinces through this amendment. Effectively, the powers devolved to the provinces will not permit the Tamils to rule their Homeland; they still will continue to be second class citizens.
The militants are to lay down their arms and negotiate a peace settlement to live in a united Sri Lanka. All the Tamil militant groups agreed, but the LTTE refused to lay down their arms on the ground that the accord did not meet any of the aspirations of the Tamils. They will lay down their arms only when their rights are restored to them. The minimum they wanted was a federal state; if that was not possible, they wanted to go separate. This is the gist of the Indo-LTTE problem, that is continuing to this day.
Now coming to Manmohan Singh's contention that India's soul is affected if the 7 innocent Tamils are released. To appease India's soul three of them Murugan, Santhan and Perarivalan must be hanged and the remaining four incarcerated in jail for the rest of their lives. Is this the philosophy taught by Mahatma Gandhi. All evidence shows that India's soul submerged at the funeral pyre of Mahatma Gandhi and Nehru. Now India is ruled by a bunch of corrupted conscienceless politicians; for then death, murder and corruption is part and parcel of Indian life.
Otherwise, how could Indian leaders and officials help the Sinhalese to commit genocide on the Tamils in Mullivaaikkal. As per Wikileak reports Sonia Gandhi with her Keralite Mafias, M.K Narayanan and Shiv Shankar Menon with one other Indian official conducted the operations on the Indian side. The two Rajapaksa brothers and President Rajapaksa's secretary on the Sri Lankan side completed the massive Genocide. Aiding and abetting them were P.Chidamparam and Pernab Mukherji, who lied in the Indian Parliament that there were only 70,000 people trapped in the 'No Fire Zone' when the actual figure was 400,000 Tamil civilians. No one will ever belief that India with all its satellite surveillance could have made a mistake on the figures. The whole aim of quoting a lower figure was to supply less food and medicine to kill the Tamils of starvation and injuries.
There was jubilation in the Sonia family on the defeat of the Tigers. Priyanka couldn't hide her feelings “India cannot forgive LTTE chief”, Priyanka Gandhi, daughter of Rajiv Gandhi was reported saying by Indo Asia News Service. She further said, “humans cannot forgive each other.” What she was trying to say was that human beings in the ruling click in Congress have become animals. That is the result of the infusion of Italian blood into Hindu India. Her brother, Rahul went about arrogantly, "You know what my attitude towards the LTTE is". Now he is quiet. I don't think he will ever go to Tamil Nadu to deliver a speech.
When the US brought introduced two resolutions in 2012 and 2013, Sri Lanka had the luxury of Big Brother India stepping in at the eleventh hour and watering down the proposed resolutions. Manmohan Singh did not feel guilty when he told Sri Lanka in 2012 that the Indian diplomats manipulated the resolution in such a way that it didn't bring adverse consequences to Sri Lanka. However, on this occasion such support from India does not appear to be forthcoming as they now face a general election, although the Foreign Minister Salman Khurshid may have played behind the scene discussions with US to make this years resolution weak. Otherwise the US, after blowing so hot, could not have produced such weak resolution.
As a conclusion, coming to the question whether India possesses a soul, the Indian soul will be intact, but right now it is submerged in the greed, self-interest, corruption and beastly mentality of the Congress Party. The Sinhalese, behaving like animals, is not something that is unnatural. Their chronicle Mahavamsa recorded that their king Vijaya had lion's face and arms. If you look at the pictures on the Tamil genocide, reproduced by Tim King, it will vouch for this background. Yashwant Sinha in his speech in parliament said. "The Sinhalese behaved like animals; even the animals would have behaved better". What do you think of the behaviour of the Indian Pundits during the Mullivaaikkal Genocide in May 2009? Please see Tim King's pictures below and draw your own conclusion.
