Modi Focused On Addressing Lankan Issue | The Sunday Leader

Dear Friends,

Here is a very good message from BJP. Mr.Narendra Modi is focused on the solution to the Tamil problem. Some may dismiss it as an election stunt, concentrated on the Tamil Nadu state election next year, but please remember he was the first Indian prime minister to visit Jaffna. Plus, like most of the Eelam Tamils. he is a Hindu. All these are in favour of the Tamils. We care a damn what religion he is or what tribal group he belongs to. Our concentration should be on how to salvage our Tamils from their present predicament, whether they be Hindus, Christians or Muslims.

For geopolitical reasons he has no other choice, but to lean towards the Sinhalese, but that doesn't mean he is about to dump the Tamils in favour of the Sinhalese. He should remember the Tamils had always been pro-Indian and the Sinhalese anti-Indian. Moreover, the chances of the much eyed Tricomalee Harbour, falling into Sinhalese or Muslim, and by extension, Chinese or Pakistan  hands are great.

In Tamil Nadu there is a tendency to use the Eelam Tamil issue only during election period for electoral reasons, as it is an emotive issue among the Tamils there. We Tamils must be vigilant on this hypocritical motives. Mr.Seeman's Naam Thamilar Katchi is deadly against caste and religion based parties. For them PMK and BJP are to be ignored. They want to win the state election election purely on ardent Tamil votes. This could be called the politics of division, but they fail to realise the reality on the ground. The reality is BJP is in power, and the Tamils have no other choice, but to deal with Modi.

The Transnational Government of Tamil Eelam (TGTE) is fighting for a separate country of Eelam. According to international law, the Tamils have earned their right to have a separate state, but unfortunately the geopolitical needs of the so-called International Community and India do not permit this. Rather than banging our heads against these formidable forces, it is wiser for the Tamils to accept Modi's concept of one country two state system for the time being at least, until the world leaders realise how workable it is in the Sri Lankan scenario.

He was the first PM to visit Jaffna in Northern Lanka. ... was making consistent efforts to resolve the fishermen row with Sri Lanka. ... In the case of Bangladesh Hindus, they were suppressed of their religious andhuman rights. But in Lanka, the BJP government was duty bound to get political rights for
