Indian parliamentary group arrive SriLanka yesterday visited to the Anandakumarasuway IDP camp at Chettikulam Vavuniya 10.00 am this morning. Vavuniya district GN welcomed these delegates and then group inquired GA on resettlement activities and present situation of the people in the district. Replying to the question GA P.M.S Charles went on to say, Three million people were displaced during the last stage of war in 2009 and among them 98% were resettled in their own places and another 2% people schedule to resettle in their areas on month of June. GA urges Indian to grant modern technical assistance to provide job opportunities for youths who had been affected from war for past three decades. Later Indian delegates visited to the camp had directly hold discussions with people. According to the sources people requested Indian delegates to take necessary steps to resettle them in their own land also said they face lack of food facilities in the camp.
(2nd lead) Indian parliamentarians visited to the Anandakumarasuway IDP camp at Chettikulam Vavuniya 10.00 am this morning and hold discussions with the people. Indian parliamentary group lead by Sushma Swraj arrived to Chettikulam Kathirgamar playground by helicopter this morning and all these delegates were welcome by Mrs.P.M.S.Charls GA of the Vvauniya district and also by the Deputy officer of Indian High Commission in Jaffna. The Minister of Resettlement Weerakone , Deputy Minuster Vinayagamoorthi Muralitharan ,Vanni District Army Commander Maj.Gen.Sunanda Perera and several other government official were also present at this location. Later Vavuniya GA informed Indian delegates on resettlement activities of people residing in the IDP camp. However Indian parliamentarians also continuously raised various questions from GA. Special they raised questions on resettlement activities of people , land issues, basic facilities for people residing in the IDP camps, school and other essential facilities provided to the people in the district. Vavuniya district GA, Deputy Minister of Resettlement and Vanni District Army commander replied to these questions. Vanni District Army Commander noted due to the delay of land mine evacuation which were buried by the LTTE organization they were unable to resettle people on correct time. Later Indian delegates and journalist were permitted to hold independent discussions with people residing in the IDP camp. People requested Indian delegates to take necessary steps to resettle them in their own land also said they face lack of food facilities in the camp. Indian delegates promised that they would hold discussions with president Rajapaksa this regard. Tight security provided in the area. Special tea party was also organized at the IDP camp.
