Ms. Jean Lambert of the MEP representing the Green Party /UK told
reporters at the end of five day visit to Sri Lanka that that the report
should be made available in the languages that are understood by people
, especially thsoe who gave evidence before it and are eager to learn
about its recommendations. "It would be a sportive move if the report
is available in all three
languages," Ms. Lambert said.
The LLRC report is only available in English at present.
She said that the conclusions of the LLRC are "extremely positive" and
dealt with many of the issues that the EU has expressed concern about.
Ms. Lambert who visited Sri Lanka one year ago said that between now and
then, much positive envelopment have taken place such as more
facilities for people to obtained death certificates or other forms of
government documentation while schools and health facilities too have
improved in the east.
The three member delegation comprising Juan Fernando Lopez Aguilar of
the Socialists and Democrats of Spain and MS.Inese Vaidere of the
European People's Parliament of Latvia visited Trincomalee and
Batticaloa during their visit and also met with SL Speaker Chamal
Rajapaksa, Economic Development Minister Basil Rajapaksa, External
Affairs Minister G.L.Peiris and SL Defence Secretary Gothabaya Rajapaksa
as well as members of the UNP and the TNA.
