தென்கொரியாவில் மகிந்த ராஜபக்ச : போர்குற்றங்கள் – இனப்படுகொலை தொடர்பில் கேள்வி எழுப்புங்கள் ! தென்கொரிய அதிபரிடம் பிரதமர் வி.உருத்திரகுமாரன் கோரிக்கை

தமிழர்கள் மீதான போர் குற்றங்கள் மற்றும் இனப்படுகொலை தொடர்பில், சிறிலங்கா அரசுத் தலைவரிடம் கேள்வியெழுப்புங்கள் என,  நாடுகடந்த தமிழீழ அரசாங்கத்தின் பிரதமர் வி.உருத்திரகுமாரன் அவர்கள் , தென் கொரிய அதிபரிடம் கோரி;க்கை விடுத்துள்ளார்.
நான்கு நாள் பயணமாக, சிறிலங்கா அரசுத் தலைவர் மகிந்த ராஜபக்ச தலைமையிலான குழுவினர் , தென் கொரியாவுக்கு சென்றுள்ள நிலையில், நாடுகடந்த தமிழீழ அரசாங்கத்தின் பிரதமர் வி.உருத்திரகுமாரன் அவர்கள், தென் கொரிய அதிபர் Lee Myung-bak அவர்களுக்கு கடிதமொன்றினை அனுப்பியியுள்ளார்.

போரின் இறுதி ஐந்து மாதங்களில் மட்டும், 40 000 தமிழர்கள் படுகொலை செய்யப்பட்டுள்ளனர் என்பதனை, ஐ.நாவின் புள்ளிவிபரங்களின் சுட்டிக்காட்டியுள்ளதை தனது கடிதத்தில் குறிப்பிட்டுள்ள பிரதமர் வி.உருத்திரகுமாரன் அவர்கள், சிறிலங்கா அரசுத் தலைவர் மகிந்த ராஜபக்சவின் கட்டளையின் கீழ் உள்ள  இராணுவத்தினரே, இப்படுகொலைகளை மேற்கொண்டுள்ளதோடு, பெண்கள் மீதான பாலியல் வன்புணர்வுகளிலும் ஈடுபட்டுள்ளனர் எனவும் அவர் தனது கடித்தில் சுட்டிக்காட்டியுள்ளார்.
1958ம் ஆண்டு முதல் தமிழர்கள் மீது இத்தகைய பாரிய படுகொலைகள் இடம்பெற்று வருகின்றமையினை சுட்டிக்காட்டியுள்ள பிரதமர் வி.உருத்திரகுமாரன் அவர்கள், 2009ம் ஆண்டின் போரின் போது, பாதுகாப்பு வலயங்கள் என சிறிலங்காவினாhல் அறிவிக்கப்பட்ட பகுதிகளில், திட்டமிட்ட முறையில் தமிழர்கள் படுகொலை செய்யப்பட்டுள்ளமை குறித்தும் அவர் எடுத்துரைத்துள்ளார்.

H.E. Lee Myung-bak,

I am writing ahead of President of Sri Lanka’s visit to your country. We appeal to you to raise war crimes committed by Sri Lankan president against the Tamil population in that island. Troops under his command killed over 40,000 Tamils in five month period in 2009 and sexual assaulted and raped Tamil women.

In addition to the killing and raping, large numbers of Tamils are imprisoned without trial and the abductions are continuing. Tamils are singled out to face these abuses simply and solely on account of their Tamil nationality.

Tamils have faced Sri Lankan government assisted repeated mass killings since 1958. Mass killings continued over the years since 1958 and the killings in 2009 prompted UN Secretary General Ban Ki- Moon to appoint a Panel of Experts to report on the scale of killings.

According to this UN Panel’s report, over 40,000 Tamils were killed in a five months period in 2009. They were killed due to carpet bombing of areas designated as “no-fire zones” by the Government. Hospitals and food distribution centers were also singled out for deliberate and intense bombing and shelling.

Large numbers of people moved into these “no-fire zones” thinking that they would be safe. Instead, they were hunted down by the Sri Lankan forces. Members of the Sri Lankan security forces are almost exclusively from the Sinhalese community and the victims are all from the Tamil community.

The Sri Lankan government also restricted food and medicine to these “no-fire zones,” resulting in large numbers of people dying from starvation and many of the injured bleeding to death.

Over 300,000 people who fled these “no -fire zones” were locked up in massive internment camps guarded by the Sri Lankan forces. Many were also summarily executed while fleeing these safe zones. People who were in these camps faced sexual assaults, abductions and executions.

According to the UN Panel, the killings and other abuses that took place amount to war crimes and crimes against humanity. The UN Human Rights Council recently looked into mass killing and passed a Resolution on accountability for these international crimes. Independent experts believe that there are elements of these abuses genocide. UK’s Channel Four produced two Documentaries documenting these killings with
live video shot by the Sri Lankan soldiers as war trophies.

We urge you to understand our plight of Tamils in that island and strongly request you to speak up during Sri Lankan President’s visit to your country. We are confident that you will have opportunities to express your concerns during your meetings with the Sri Lankan President and with the press. We also urge you to include the plight of Tamils in any joint statements. Thank you.
