Former LTTE women taken to Budhist temple by force

A group of Tamil young women (former LLTE carders) have been taken to a Buddhist temple by force states reports. This group of rehabilitated Tamil Women employed in a ‘Ti-star’ garment factory at Ratmalana had been taken to a Buddhist temple by force on a poya day. There girls already hurt by the Sinhala youths and the factory management.

The Article 18 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and also the Constitution of Sri Lanka accept that every human being has the right to freedom of thought, conscience and religion including freedom to change his religion or belief and freedom not to believe in a religion and residents in the area say such acts would distance the Tamil’s from the Sinhalese instead of developing trust and unity between the two communities
