Eezham National Democratic Front (ENDLF), a paramilitary group based in India, adopted a resolution at an ‘extraordinary’ meeting held in Bangalore on Saturday and Sunday urging India to send a new peace making team with a view to fulfilling promise what Rajiv Gandhi made on the North-East Provincial Council.
Noting that for a brief period of three years when the IPKF was there the colonisation was stopped, the resolution said that if India cannot help it should constitute a higher level international committee of countries that accommodated the refugees to bring in justice, the resolution further said.
"We cannot live any longer in fool’s paradise hoping in vain that Sri Lankan government will condescend to agree to give us a free and peaceful life," the resolution observed.
The ENDLF urged India to conduct judicial inquiry into the carnage of Tamils by Sri Lanka.
It also demanded that India should maintain the refugee camps in Tamil Nadu properly and sought the interference of the New Delhi government to keep refugees free from the fear of the Q Branch (Tamil Nadu state police intelligence).
According to the resolution, the Q Branch intimidates and treats the refugees as slaves.
The ENDLF sacrificed 1700 of its cadres pinning faith on the promise made by Rajiv Gandhi on the North-East Provincial Council, the resolution further said.
Paranthan Rajan led ENDLF, comprising mainly former members of PLOTE, is a pro-Indian militant outfit created by the Indian intelligence agencies to defend the Indian agenda in the late 1980s.
It wanted India to stop Sinhala colonization in Tamil homeland, evict those who were brought in after 1948, stop the construction of Buddhist temples there, demolish those temples already constructed, and evict Sinhala fishermen colonised the north-east coast.
